A server is sized by its workload: how many users, which applications, how much data, and how much downtime the business can tolerate. A small office running file sharing and an accounting package needs something very different from a company running virtual machines or a database. We start from the workload, then specify the processor, memory, drive configuration, RAID level and redundant power supplies to match.
We supply entry-level tower servers for small offices that have no rack, rack-mount servers for data rooms and colocation, network-attached storage for shared files and backup, and the enterprise hard drives and SSDs to expand them. Every server can be paired with a UPS sized to shut it down cleanly in a power cut.

Does a small business need a rack server or a tower server?
A business with no server rack and fewer than about 25 users is usually best served by a tower server, which runs quietly in an office. Once there is a rack or a dedicated data room, a rack server saves space. Colion International supplies both from HP, Dell and Lenovo.
Which RAID level should a business server use?
For most small-business servers Colion International recommends RAID 1 for two drives or RAID 5/6 for four or more, so the server keeps running if a drive fails. RAID is not a backup, so we also recommend a separate backup device.
Do you install and configure servers?
Yes. Colion International racks and cables the server, configures RAID and remote management, and can install Windows Server or another operating system so it is ready for your IT team or software vendor.
